After a troubled youth and 18 years in prison, Wiliam Garnett (Whitaker) is being released. With the help of the an idealistic parole agent (Blethyn) and his newfound Islamic faith, Garnett struggles to rebuild his life and overcome the vuilent impulses which possess him.
